Savoring Tradition: The Kerala Iyer Culinary Symphony"

The Kerala Iyers generically referred to as Palakkad Brahmins by some, "come in four categories - they are Cooks, Crooks, Civil Servants or Musicians", thus spake late T.N.Seshan, an inveterate Kerala Iyer, and also the former Chief Election Commissioner of India. There was some truth in that statement, atleast during the days and times of Shri Seshan. I stand as the truthful inheritor of that adage by being professionally as close as possible to Cooks but without being a Crook!

Simpliiyers! is all about cooks & cookery, the Kerala Iyer way. Do not be gobsmacked with the bewildering variety of tongue twisting, gastronomically tingling names of dishes that makes the Kerala Iyer cuisine. Whether it is a Molagootal or Vengaya Sambar or Urulaikizhangu Podimaas or Molagooshyam or delicacies like therattipaal, chakkavaratti or idichu-puzhincha payasam; you would find it all sometime or other at Simpliiyers! The canvas of dishes each of which is exquisitely and indigenously crafted is huge, and the menu compositions take into account nutritional balance and aspects that solve issues such as which main dish would be tastefully compatible with what side dish. Matters of spiritual relevance, availability during the season, or even the benevolent mood of the temple cooks too matter! They who pit their skills to produce nutritious blockbusters from 3am onwards each day!

You could also have a surprise in a Panchamrutam or Panakam on special occasions. We call these a delicious dessert and a health drink respectively, while in realty they are offerings to Lord Kartikeya or Lord Subramania. In the cast ridden society, we join the band wagon by having traditional Brahmins of South India as our cooks; traditional cooking being their forte. Shorn of irrelevant "show-baaji" and with down to earth demeanor, the hands of our mama and mami cooks churn out typical Iyer cuisines with a panache for a harmless, healthy lifestyle.

Vaango, chaapaadu ready! Ahem, which means, come over, food is ready!
